A Plague Tale: Requiem is the sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence, continuing the tragic yet gripping journey of Amicia and Hugo de Rune in 14th-century France. The game explores themes of survival, sacrifice, and the bond between siblings as they confront a deadly supernatural plague.

A New Beginning?

After escaping the horrors of A Plague Tale: Innocence, Amicia, Hugo, their mother Béatrice, and Lucas (a young alchemist) travel to the south of France, seeking a peaceful life. Hugo, however, still suffers from the Macula, a mysterious supernatural disease that gives him the ability to control swarms of plague-infested rats. The group hopes to find a cure before the Macula completely takes over Hugo’s body and mind.

A Deadly Disease Awakens

Hugo’s condition worsens, and he begins to have visions of a mysterious island, which he believes holds the key to curing him. Amicia, determined to save her brother, sets off with him to La Cuna, an island rumored to be linked to the Macula’s origins. However, as they arrive, the Plague resurfaces, and the ravenous rat swarms begin to consume entire cities.

The Order, The Count, and Hugo’s True Nature

The island is ruled by Count Victor and Countess Emilie, who at first welcome the siblings. Emilie believes Hugo is a divine figure called the "Child of Embers." Meanwhile, The Order, a secretive alchemist society, holds knowledge of the Macula but has its own sinister motives. Hugo's powers grow, and he begins losing control over the rats, causing widespread devastation.

War, Destruction, and Tragedy

As Hugo’s powers spiral out of control, the once-beautiful island is reduced to ruins. The Count betrays Amicia and Hugo, leading to heartbreaking losses and forcing Amicia to make an impossible choice. With Hugo now too dangerous, she is faced with the hardest decision of her life—one that will determine the fate of the world and their bond as siblings.
