- V and Jackie take a high-risk job from fixer Dexter DeShawn to steal a prototype biochip from Arasaka Corporation.
- The job goes terribly wrong Arasaka’s leader, Saburo Arasaka, is murdered by his own son, Yorinobu Arasaka.
- V and Jackie escape, but Jackie is fatally wounded. Before dying, he gives V the biochip.
- V is forced to insert the chip into their own head to protect it.
- Dexter betrays V and shoots them in the head, leaving them for dead.
Miraculously, V wakes up, but something is wrong the biochip has activated, and they start seeing Johnny Silverhand, a terrorist and former rockstar from the 2020s, inside their head.
Act 2: Finding a Cure
- V learns that the biochip is merging with their brain, and Johnny Silverhand’s personality will soon overwrite V’s.
- Their only hope is to find a way to remove the chip without killing themselves.
- This leads V to powerful figures like:
- Rogue Amendiares – A legendary fixer and Johnny’s old ally.
- Panam Palmer – A Nomad helping V seek new technology to stop the chip.
