Sons of the Forest is mysterious, eerie, and gradually unfolds as you explore the island. It picks up from The Forest, but you don’t need to have played the first game to enjoy this one though it definitely adds context.

You play as part of a search-and-rescue team sent to find a missing billionaire named Edward Puffton, along with his wife and daughter, who disappeared on a remote island. But your helicopter is shot down, and you crash-land on the island.

As you explore, you discover:

Mutants and cannibals all over the island.
Abandoned bunkers and high-tech facilities underground.
Cryptic notes, recordings, and computers that hint at sinister experiments.
Strange golden artifacts and symbols that don’t belong in the modern world.

The story unfolds through exploration, environmental clues, and your encounters with key characters like Kelvin, Virginia, and others.

You Are:

A soldier sent to investigate the disappearance of the Puffton family wealthy owners of a company involved with the island’s development and research. You crash during the mission and must survive while uncovering what happened.

The Island (Site 2)

The island is not just a wild, forested area it's the site of secretive research conducted by a corporation called PuffCorp. They were experimenting with ancient alien artifacts made of a strange gold-like material with unusual properties.

Experiments Gone Wrong

PuffCorp was trying to exploit these artifacts (especially one called the Cube) for potential power, immortality, or military use. But something went terribly wrong.

Many people, including the Pufftons themselves, were transformed into mutants.
The artifacts seem to warp reality time and space shift inside them.
The “Cube” also protects people inside it from an apocalyptic event.

Key Characters

Edward, Barbara, and Virginia Puffton: The missing family. You later find that Edward and Barbara became mutants, but Virginia survived and becomes an ally.
Kelvin: Your fellow soldier injured in the crash but helps you out.
Timmy and Eric LeBlanc: Protagonists from The Forest. Timmy is investigating the artifacts to learn more about his own past transformation and is now deeply involved.

Endgame and Multiple Endings

Near the end of the game, you reach the Cube, which activates and shows you a vision of a futuristic city or alien world possibly hinting at another dimension or the future.
